This drink is the cure to all your winter ailments. It's sweet, smooth, and soothing all in one. For added blood orange flavor we infused the bourbon with blood orange and also steeped the tea in a warm blood orange soda.
Blood orange infused bourbon: Clean and slice 2 fresh blood oranges into wheels. Place orange wheels at the bottom of a glass jar and cover with 750ml bottle of bourbon. Allow to sit for 3 days in a cool, dark pantry or cupboard. Gently turn the jar a few times each day. On the third day strain the mixture through cheese cloth and return to the bottle. Store in the fridge until ready to use. Will last about 1 month.
1. Combine bourbon, hot tea, and honey in a toddy glass or mug.
2. Stir with a cinnamon stock until honey dissolves.
3. Garnish with a fresh lemon wheel.
Some people may not like the bitterness of the tea. Try boiling some water with a cinnamon stick or for added flavor we steeped the tea in a blood orange soda that we warmed in the microwave.
