Clausthaler is the most popular alcohol-free brand in Europe. Winner of the World Beer Awards Worlds Best Alcohol-Free Beer award 2013.Brewed and bottled in Germany this premium alcohol-free lager contains no more than 0.5 alcohol-by-volume.
Clausthaler Premium Non Alcoholic beer is one of the absolute best beers in the category. If presented in a blind taste test along with standard, alcoholic lagers, you would be hard pressed to pick Clausthaler out as a non-alcholic beer and even moreso, it would likely rate right up at the top of that tasting despite it lacking that typically key character of beer. A traditional German-style lager at heart, the brewers use a patented brewing method that takes them through every process of beer making besides the extraction of alcohol while fermenting sugar. The result is a beer that stands up tall when enjoyed alongside more traditionally fermented lagers.
The beer pours a deep golden yellow color, carbonated bubbles rising slowly from the bottom of the glass up to the rocky white head that floats atop for a few moments before disappearing into the beauteous beer below. The aroma is noted with light bread notes, crusty French loaves sitting on a baker’s shelf, with hints of crushed herbs and scuffed earth hidden in the background. The flavor is typical of any great German lager. White bread and cereal grains melded with brisk hops for sweetness and balancing bitterness. When enjoyed cold, as any lager should be, the beer is clean in flavor and with no presence of alcoholic bite, the grain is given an opportunity to really stand strong.
Clausthaler Premium Non Alcoholic is a wonderful alternative to the more standard beers and can be enjoyed in any situation, social or not. The quality of the hop presence allow it to stand up strong to typical game day snacks like buffalo chicken wings or a heaping plate of baked potato skins loaded with the works. It’s a refreshing beer that shouldn’t even be thought of as a replacement to alcoholic beer, perfectly quenching under the summer sun or on an autumn evening.
