FAQs

Pacifico Beer is made in Mazatlán, a beachfront Mexican town directly on the Pacific Ocean (the Pacific Ocean is also how this beer gets its name!). It was actually created in 1900 by three German brewers who combined their German brewing craft with Mexican lager traditions to create this full-flavored, drinkable, and zippy beverage. From there, the story goes that the beer was brought to America in 1970 by Southern Californian surfers who sipped the drink in Baja, Mexico, and loved it so much they brought a few cases back home with them and jumpstarted its American popularity.
There are 143 calories per bottle (which is 12 fluid ounces) of Pacifico beer, which is about the same (if not a little less) as other easy-drinking Mexican beers like Corona, Modelo, and Dos Equis. As far as carbs, there are 13.6 carbs per bottle, which is also aligned with the beers mentioned above. Although vegan, this beer is not gluten-free as it’s made with malted barley — it’s worth noting that the gluten content of this popular beer is fairly low due to the fermentation process.
Pacifico is a crisp, Mexican pilsner-style lager that’s easy to sip and is just as perfect for a day out in the sun as it is for during a football game. It’s 4.4 percent alcohol, which is about the same alcohol percentage as many of the other pilsners available at your local liquor store. Due to its low alcohol contents, it is easy to drink. However, it still packs a flavor punch—it’s loved for its citrus flavor, refreshing taste, and familiar yet delicious vibe.
The approachability of this classic Mexican beer is a big reason this drink is a great gift. It’s a beer that is loved by many people and one that they probably even pick out for themselves. This makes this a useful gift for any loved one (you know it will be happily consumed!). It’s also a good beer for fun beer cocktails like the Michelada or a beer margarita, so a giftee can easily find multiple uses for this beverage.
