Product description

A well balanced bright golden lager beer with a malt crisp flavor, low to medium bitterness that finishes clean. Born on the western bicultural borderland of Baja California, Mexico, TECATE® embodies the unapologetic energy of Mexican-Americans in the USA. We are still proudly brewed in our namesake town of Tecate using the same high-quality recipe since 1944. Tecate Original is a full-bodied lager with a refreshing crisp malt flavor and a pleasant aftertaste – the way a Mexican cerveza should be.

It's a solid ale for a good price. We use it for Micheladas, casual meals, and making bread.

American lagers tend to offer a much lighter body than other styles, very little (or no) bitterness, and lower ABV. Sometimes called "mass market" lagers, production focuses less on complex flavors, and more on reproducing pale, crushable consistency in every can or bottle.
When it comes to flavor, think...neutral, and not in a bad way. There's not too much of any flavor, with a balance of grain and corn flavors, with a low to medium-low hop bitterness. Craft beer drinkers will probably find the hop flavors to be subdued.
The alcohol by volume (ABV) of American lagers is usually in the 4% - 5% range.
