Coors Banquet is an American classic. This world class lager has been brewed by the Coors family in Golden Colorado since 1873 and their commitment to excellence holds true today. We all know the story of the beer being brewed with quality Rocky Mountain spring water, but it doesn't stop there. Coors Banquet is brewed with barley grown from the same family of Czech grains that were once gifted to the Coors family back in the 1930 and they are malted in-house for total control over the process. The yeast has been unique to the Coors brewery for decades, contributing to their household flavor. The hops are hand selected, using a greater addition of aromatic hops to bittering hops, achieving a wonderful flavor and just a subtle bitter flavor to balance with the sweetness of the malts. This beer is meant for a banquet.
Pouring a clear golden color with a small white head, this is a beer that looks the way that we all envision beer when we close our eyes. The aromas and flavors are crisp. Grassy, earthen hops jump from the liquid as you first lean in for a sip. Sweet, biscuity malts coat your palate as you take a sip, mild bitterness from the use of four different types of hops finishing the taste as you swallow each ice cold gulp. There is a lovely balance to this light American lager, unlike all of the rest.
One should pair a can of Coors Banquet with as many friends as possible, so quite a few cans will be required. This is a beer for fishing trips, baseball games, band practice, or humble chats with friends as your kids run amok. Enjoy it with a steak or a grilled chicken sandwich. Try it with fries or potato chips. Throw one back and seize the day.
