Product Description

Brooklyn Lager is amber gold in color and displays a firm malt center supported by a refreshing bitterness and floral hop aroma. Caramel malts show in the finish. The aromatic qualities of the beer are enhanced by dry hopping, the centuries old practice of steeping the beer with fresh hops as it undergoes a long, cold maturation. The result is a wonderfully flavorful beer, smooth, refreshing and very versatile with food.

Drizly Expert Notes

Brooklyn Lager, from namesake Brooklyn Brewery, is as much a piece of the city of New York as thin crust pizza by the slice, musicals being sung on Broadway, or yellow taxi cabs navigating the gridlocked streets of Manhattan. An amalgamation of a traditional Vienna lager, a British dry-hopping technique, and, of course, the artisanal sensibilities of the Brooklyn tenements, it is a sincerely American beer; a melting pot of technique and taste. It's a darker lager that has been dry hopped, meaning hops are added at the end of the fermentation processes, giving it a fresh hop character without an overwhelming bitterness. For those who like to know, Brooklyn uses Ahtanum, Cascade, Saphir, Vanguard, Hallertauer Mittelfrueh hops.

Like most hand crafted beers, this lager is fantastic when guzzled right out of the bottle, but it is greatly enhanced if poured gently into a clean pint glass. Darker than the more common American lagers on the market, the beer pours a clear amber hue, immediately characterizing the beer as a Vienna lager, brewed with a fair share of slightly caramelized malts. The aroma evokes notes of toasted malt, golden caramels, and citrus and herb essence from the dry-hopping towards the end of fermentation. The beer's flavor is similar. Gentle notes of citrus and pine bitterness layered on top of a pleasantly sweet malt backbone, all nestled within a perfectly carbonated beer.

Brooklyn Lager can be paired with a variety of foods. Try it with a cheese plate featuring manchego and dried apricots or give it a shot with a chili dog topped off with onions and shredded cheddar. Enjoy a bottle while reading a classic American novel about families crossing the plains or while playing lawn games with your best friends.
