Drizly Expert Notes

Blue Moon Belgian White has been one of the most prominent beers in the United States since it was first brewed in Denver, Colorado back in the mid 1990's. Born at The Sandlot Brewery, directly attached to the field where the Colorado Rockies play their Major League Baseball games, it was created a more modern take on the classic Belgian witte beer. The traditional wheat beer style has been brewed for ages and is known for it's use of a hint of orange peel and coriander along with all of the brewing grains, but the folks at Blue Moon took it a step further by dialing up those flavors, using Valencia oranges and a pinch more coriander for that needed spice.

Poured into a tall glass, the beer pours a color similar to it's name. A creamy, orange beer with a nearly white tint to it, covered with a thick, white, foamy head. The nose is rich with that spicy yeast quality that the Belgian brewers are famous for, compounded with notes of rich orange juice, wheat, and a hint of lemon rind. The taste is sweet and full bodied. The Valencia oranges truly shine in the flavor and are balanced well with the spiciness of the coriander. This is certainly one of the most juicy, thirst quenching beers on the market today.

Blue Moon Belgian Witte is a prime example of a beer made to pair with food. The sweet citrus flavors from the oranges and the spice from the coriander and yeast make for an ideal profile to drink alongside a succulent grilled lobster, or really any of your favorite seafood. Try it with a pair of citrus marinated chicken tacos or with a simple summer salad filled with avocado and grapefruit chunks. Not in need of a beer for dinner? Be free to enjoy Blue Moon Belgian Witte the way it was originally intended, while watching your favorite baseball team play summer ball, or in any other situation that calls for a refreshing sip.
