Drizly Expert Notes

Young's Double Chocolate Stout is dessert in a bottle (or can, or keg). The long time British brewery has put together a winning combination of roasted malts and actual cacao in this decadent stout. Stouts are a style pretty much as English as fish & chips or the Union Jack, something developed long ago and enjoyed at pubs world over at this point and Young’s is a fine one indeed, particularly for those with a bit of a chocolate obsession. Pour your stout into a tulip glass and you won’t be able to see from one side to the other through the opaque black liquid. The smooth, dense beer forms a dense brown head atop, tiny bubbles escaping quickly, making for an extra rich, silky mouthfeel. The aroma that wafts from this regal beer runs deep with roasted malts, lightly roasted coffee, and chocolates, both milky and dark. The flavor is spectacular. There is a definite milky sweetness from the caramel malts and bright cacao nibs, but it is balanced will with the deep roasted character of the dark as night malts. Young's Double Chocolate Stout is perhaps the best beer in the world if you are looking for something to drink with dessert. Pair this with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or a warm chocolate chip cookie or a decadent cheesecake and life is going to be good. Enjoy a glass while sitting by a campfire making s’mores or treat yourself on Halloween in place of a candy bar. If you enjoy stout beer and you are a fan of chocolate, this is a sure fire win.
