Uinta Hop Nosh IPA, formerly known as “Hop Notch," is the Utah brewery's flagship IPA coming in at 7.3% ABV. Named after mountain range in its native state, Uinta Brewing Company opened in Salt Lake City, UT in the winter of 1993. In its 14 years of growth, Uinta started from a humble bathroom homebrew system to a 15bbl brewhouse, and now its tanks are able to contain 11 Olympic-size swimming pools filled with beer! Uinta is now the country's 38th largest craft brewery with distribution in 36 states.
Hop Nosh pours in a deep amber color with strawberry hues (14.4 SRM) from the Munich malt and C40 malt (Caramel/Crystal malt, or malts kilned to a high enough temperature to “caramelize" sugars within the malt). The flavor bursts of Galaxy hops with zesty pine, lime zest, grapefruit, and hints of tropical are balanced by caramel and toasted bread flavors of the malt and an assertive woody and floral bitterness from the Chinook hops. The hefty malt and bitter bass tones make this a burly IPA.
With its heftier caramel malt and bitterness, pair with dishes able to withstand the flavor impact of Uinta Hop Nosh, like grilled pork chops, hearty burgers, and Meat Lover's pizza.
