Lord Hobo Boom Sauce is an unfiltered New England style Double IPA at 7.8% ABV from Woburn, MA. As the brewery's flagship offering, Boom Sauce features six hop varietals, including Mosaic, Falconer's Flight (a proprietary blend of multiple hops), Amarillo, and Ella, along with a malt bill of pilsner malt, spelt, oat, and wheat.
From New England, the land of unfiltered, “hazy" IPAs, this beer has only a moderate haze in the appearance, but that does not take away from the beer's explosive tropical and citrus hop flavors of grapefruit, orange, mango, passionfruit, and peach supported by a caramel malt sweetness and piney and resinous moderate bitterness that makes you keep wanting to go back for more “Sauce." This brew holds more of a West Coast malt and bitter edge compared to other turbid “juicy" New England IPAs. However, that only makes the beer more attractive for pairing with food.
Pair this fruity and bombastic DIPA with a messy Aussie Burger (with toppings like beetroot, egg, cheese, and pineapple), sharp yellow cheddar, and jambalaya with andouille sausage.
