Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA is a modern classic blend of West Coast IPA hop flavors and East Coast IPA malts and body. The brewmasters over at Milton, Delaware's bizarrely named brewery are known for being a bit off-centered, and this concept of an IPA is just about as eccentric as it gets. Born from what must have been a beer inspired idea, the mechanics at Dogfish Head were given the duty of creating a machine that, unlike most recipes that add hops just once or twice as the beer is being brewed, would continually add hops to their wort as it boiled every minute for 60 minutes. Impossible? A waste of time? Most brewers would say “yes". But that's why Dogfish Head is so near and dear to our hearts. They challenge themselves to create some of the most interesting beers in the world, nothing will stand in their way.
This gorgeous IPA pours a stellar honey orange color with a simple white foam cap when enjoyed out of a proper pint glass, which is ideal for the style. The use of Pacific Northwest hops provide all of the characteristic flavors that we've come to love in a fresh IPA. Grapefruit skins and citrus zest shine alongside hints of pine and forest resin. The pine quality definitely shines on the first sip, but the use of fine malts give it just enough sweetness to balance out the bitter quality without overwhelming. It's a lovely sipping beer that explodes with flavor from the unique way of processing the hops during the brew.
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA should be enjoyed with a plate of vintage cheddar cheese, dried fruits, and salty crackers. Try it with a pesto sauce pizza or a platter of spicy chicken wings. Enjoy this beer in all seasons be it a warm California morning or a snow covered Delaware night. Drink a bottle whilst swinging a tire swing in your childhood yard or toss a few on ice in preparation for the big game.
