    All about The Alchemist

The Alchemist helped launch the New England, hazy IPA craze. Started in 2003 by John and Jen Kimmich in their Waterbury basement, the Alchemist soon expanded and launched its signature beer, Heady Topper, throughout Vermont. Heady Topper has enticed beer lovers from around the country to visit the Green Mountain State. It’s a double IPA sold in appealing pint-size silver cans. Clocking in at 8% ABV, this beer is extra hazy and extra hoppy, just what you’re looking for from a small craft New England brewery.

Even with its cult-like following, the Alchemist remains a family-owned brewery focused on sustainability. The brewery uses solar energy and makes intentional efforts to create a positive impact as a company. The Alchemist Foundation was created to award scholarships to local high schoolers, and the company partners with local artists to create unique and inspired labels for its products. They even close the brewery each year to celebrate Employee Appreciation Day.

It may be hard to find a brew from the Alchemist on your local store shelves because of its limited distribution. Be sure to add the brand to your beer bucket list though, because year after year, Heady Topper is considered one of the best beers ever.
