Terrapin Beer Company
Why anyone would name a brewery after a turtle is a true puzzler. The mystery still stands to this day, however, since Terrapin Beer Company's moniker was actually inspired by Terrapin Station, an album by the legendary Grateful Dead. The Deadhead responsible for this was Brian "Spike" Buckowski, who co-founded the brewery alongside the equally groovy John Cochran. This dynamic duo first met in 1998 while working for the Atlanta Brewing Company.
They soon decided to take their extensive homebrewing chops to a higher level. After years of failed attempts at wooing investors, they took their Terrapin's Rye Pale Ale to the 2002 Classic City Brew Fest in Athens, Georgia. Only half a year later, the same potent potion took a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in the mile-high city of Denver, Colorado. After a few years of contract brewing, Terrapin opened its own facility in Athens in 2006. They soon moved to an even larger facility in 2008 where they craft nearly 20,000 barrels annually.
Drizly is proud to offer a wide selection of Terrapin's freaky far-out brews. Among them, you'll find their Hopsecutioner, Good to Gose, Wake-n-Bake Coffee Oatmeal Stout, Sound Czech pilsner, Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA and White Chocolate Moo Hoo.
