Narragansett Brewing Company was founded in 1890 by six local businessmen promising a clean, friendly lager built from the purest ingredients. Its original brewery was located in Cranston, Rhode Island, near the beach town that bears the brand's name. It eventually grew into the best-selling brew in New England and became an integral part of local culture.

"Hi, neighbor! Have a 'Gansett" was a famous slogan often heard at Boston Braves and Red Sox games. The brand has changed ownership and locations a few times since its birth, but it's back in New England now. In 2005, it was bought by native Rhode Islander Mark Hellendrung. He rehired former brewmaster Bill Anderson. For a while, their beer was made in various locations from Rhode Island to Connecticut to New York. In 2017, it opened the doors to its new home in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

The classic Narragansett Lager has returned, but it's not alone. Keeping with modern craft brewing trends, Narragansett now offers a full range of lagers and ales.
