    All about Kingfisher

Kingfisher is a low-alcohol brand of beer originally brewed in India that has since expanded into over 60 countries. In the early 1900s, United Breweries Holdings Limited, Kingfisher’s parent company, established multiple breweries in South India. Using British brewing techniques, the product quickly found success among British troops who occupied India through the 1940s. The classic Kingfisher lager is golden, malty and pairs tremendously well with spicy Indian flavors.

Kingfisher beer was introduced by United Breweries in the 1960s. Even then, the first canned Kingfisher lager didn’t debut in India until 1981, quickly followed by its release in the United States. The brand has swapped alliances with other breweries over the past few decades, and today, Heineken owns nearly half of the Kingfisher name. The line has expanded to include Radlers, malt liquor drinks and witbiers, in addition to several kinds of lager.

Bold marketing strategies are the basis for Kingfisher’s long-lasting success, ironic since alcohol advertising was banned in India in the 1990s. Ever resilient, Kingfisher remains the best-selling Indian beer brand. Swimsuit models, cricket athletes and social media platforms have all played a major role in Kingfisher’s success around the world.
