    All about Heineken

Heineken’s distinctive green bottle adorned with a bright red star is instantly recognizable. This world-famous pale lager from the Netherlands appears everywhere in the media, from James Bond movies to major sporting events. Heineken is one of the largest alcohol sponsors in professional sports. After Anheuser-Busch InBev, Heineken is the second biggest brewery in the world, with a massive offering of different beers and ciders. Red Stripe, Tiger Beer, Strongbow and Dos Equis all fall under the Heineken umbrella.

Its creator, Gerard Adriaan Heineken, founded the company in the late 19th century. The green bottle has been in use since the beginning and though many critics consider green glass a poor choice for storing beer, Heineken continues to forge its own path. That same spirit has continued throughout the brand’s history. It was the first imported beer to re-enter the American market after Prohibition. Heineken’s “Brewing a Better World” initiative helps fund major sustainability partnerships. In 2018, Maggie Timoney, president of Heineken USA, became the first female CEO of a U.S. beer company. In 2019, Heineken 0.0 launched, adding a health-conscious non-alcoholic option to the brand’s family. After 150 years and across over 200 countries, Heineken isn’t afraid to do things differently.
