    Glutenberg hasn’t just created a gluten-free beer that doesn’t suck — they’ve created a great beer. Founders Julien Niquet and David Cayer used to believe that beer was simply off-limits for anyone who was intolerant to gluten (Niquet suffers from celiac disease). The gluten-free trend was just getting going around this time and many people discovered they were at least sensitive (if not fully intolerant) to gluten. That’s when Niquet and Cayer saw the opportunity.

    As students in the UQAM’s School of Management, the two put their heads together and worked smart. They made sure this thing would work. That meant creating value for customers, securing investors and making sure operations were up to snuff. They introduced five products (including blondes, reds and IPAs) and opted for a microbrewery approach to producing them. The biggest rule was that these beers had to taste like beer.

    After eight months, the two found themselves at the World Beer Cup, the most important beer competition on earth. And of their five products, three were chosen as the best gluten-free beers in the world. Since then, they’ve won many more medals, earned customers all over the world and seen their company grow enormously. Innovation will always be at the core of what they do, so you’ll never have to go long without a new creation to try.
