Because isn't that the whole point?
Our Pineapple Sculpin IPA came from one of many small-batch cask experiments to enhance the flavor of our signature IPA. With so many tropical hop notes in Sculpin, how could we not try adding some sweet, juicy pineapple? The combination of fruity flavors and hop intensity definitely packs a punch.View all products by Ballast Point
Ballast Point's Pineapple Sculpin is a terrifically tropical take on this favorite IPA hailing from San Diego, California. If you are a fan of regular Sculpin (which is no regular beer in its own right), and are curious to enjoy it with an extra dose of island awesomeness, this is the beer for you. Original Sculpin is one of the most popular west coast style IPAs of all time, bursting with citrusy hop character. The owners of Ballast Point, having roots deep in homebrewing weren't happy enough with the original and wanted to create something even more unique, more exciting. The result of continuous small batch experiments to somehow improve upon the award winning west coast IPA, the fruity flavor and hop intensity packs a punch.
Poured into a classic pint glass or enjoyed straight out of the bottle, the beer is a clear golden color, or one could even say a pineapple yellow. The aroma hits you right in the face with it's intense pineapple and citrus forward hops, begging for a sip, and for a beach. It's an overload of the tropics. The flavors follow sooth. Pineapples attack the palate, but are balanced by the classic blend of west coast hops that create hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon rinds along with just a bit of that forest-like hop bite.
Enjoy Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin on a sunny weekend while leaning back in a barcalounger at your friend's pool party. Store a six pack in a bucket of ice next to the margarita machine. Pair it with a brightly colored swimsuit that matches the colorful flavor profile of the beer. Enjoy it with tortilla chips and freshly made mango salsa or with some al pastor tacos.
