Get the door, it's the liquor store
Canada, your Vancouver is pretty cool, but we have our very own Vancouver in Washington State, and it's just as... worth the trip. In fact, Vancouver, USA (otherwise known as the 'Couve) was founded before the Canadian city by more than 60 years. Both cities are named after George Vancouver, an early explorer of the Puget Sound area who inspired a general lack of creativity when naming his discoveries. Nonetheless, Vancouver, Washington today is plenty quirky with all the charms of other Pacific Northwest cities. Eccentric public art (like a giant tentacle sculpture coming out of a manhole) and summertime festivals are part of the city's backbone. Its beer culture rivals even Portland, Oregon, across the Columbia River. Drizly stocks all your craft beer cravings throughout the 'Couve. Hoppy and bitter West Coast IPAs or rich coffee stouts can be yours within the hour. Pack a bottle of bubbly for a picnic at Esther Short Park and listen to the bells ring in the Salmon Run Bell Tower.
