Get the door, it's the liquor store
While out-of-towners might articulate this city phonetically, real Virginians know that the city’s name is pronounced like Suf-fick. Suffolk spans... a southern slice of the state, from the Chesapeake Bay right on down to the North Carolina border. This artsy town blends deep-South flavors and East Coast antiquing in a way only mid-Atlantic cities can master. There are cobble-stoned streets befitting its colonial roots. Yet, locals have access to the region's more colorful opportunities like noodling for catfish and “fishing” (re: drinking beer on a rowboat). Suffolk wouldn’t be what it is today without the city’s most famous, bespoke legume: Mr. Peanut. Suffolk is known as the “Peanut Capital of the World,” and people here don’t mess around; there’s even an annual peanut festival, including a demolition derby and a crowned peanut queen. Be sure to pack your EpiPens though because Drizly only delivers beer, wine and spirits in Suffolk.
