Get the door, it's the liquor store
There are old New England towns, and then there’s Pawtucket. This city sits just north of Providence and is home... to over 71,000 people, making it the state’s fourth-largest city — and one of its oldest population hubs. Back in the pre-settler days, Native Americans would gather here in great numbers to fish. Then came Joseph Jenks, who showed up from Lynn, Massachusetts, in the 1600s to build a sawmill and a forge. The town that sprang up around these businesses was utterly destroyed by King Philip’s War. However, by the Revolution, things were up and running again, and soon the town became the CBGB of textiles. The Slater Mill, which still stands in the center of town today, was an industry leader with its production process that didn’t rely on horses. Like any great idea, it inspired a smattering of other textile makers around the city. Pawtucket today is a livable, lovable city that provides an affordable place to live with a quick commute to downtown Providence. It’s steeped in history and offers some of the best traits of New England — and we’d be remiss not to mention that Drizly serves Pawtucket with on-demand alcohol delivery as well. Simply order your favorite beers, wines and/or spirits and we’ll have them to you in under an hour.
