Get the door, it's the liquor store
Jamaica Plain is a lovely neighborhood, just a hop, skip and a jump to the southwest of downtown Boston. As... with other Jamaicas in the northeast, its name is the source of much head-scratching and chin-stroking. This particular one is thought to have derived its name from the intensely popular Jamaica rum that came to the area in the 17th century. Rum and sugar would make their way to and from the area within the Triangle Trade. Today, rum arrives a lot more easily in Jamaica Plain — instead of being holed up for months in the dank bowels of a ship, it arrives within an hour in a Drizly mobile.
