Get the door, its the liquor store
Oh, for life to be as lovely as it is every day in Cape Coral, Florida. This city sits a... precious five feet above the ocean, so if you’re a creature of the sea, this is exactly where you want to be in life. With a population under 200,000 and about 120 square miles to play with, Cape Coral does a lot with what it’s got. It’s situated just west of Fort Myers on the gulf coast, though it’s shielded from the open water by a lovely chain of barrier islands. The city features over 400 miles of canals. That’s more than Venice. It’s got endless sunbathing, mangroves, kayaking and walking/biking trails. Due to some truly mind-boggling urban planning, nearly every house near the Caloosahatchee River has canal access. That means you’re probably better off hopping on a boat than getting in your car, particularly when you want to check out the local nature preserves, parks or estuaries. Manatees like to hang out in Sirenia Vista Park, while herons and ibis make their home in Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. Those canals aren’t the only infrastructural wonder of Cape Coral, though. Simply search the Drizly site or app for your favorite beers, wines and liquors, and they’ll be at your door in an hour or less. Probably by car instead of a boat, for the record.
