The warm winter cousin to sangria, this crowd pleaser is great to make in large batches on a snowy day. Seasonal spices like cinnamon and cloves make this mulled wine perfect to sip on by the fire.


  • 1 750 ml bottle of Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 1/4 cup brandy 
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise

How to Mix

  1. Slice your orange into rounds and stud the rind with your cloves. Drop into a non-aluminum sauce pan with the 2 cinnamon sticks.
  2. Pour the rest of your ingredients into the pan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. (Careful not to boil)
  3. Reduce the heat to and allow to simmer for up to 3 hours. 
  4. Serve in coffee mugs with a slice of orange.

Include extra orange slices, cinnamon sticks or star anise for optional garnish.
