Cerveza Preparada, (meaning 'prepared beer') is a term used in Mexico when referring to a beer mixed, or prepared to include ingredients like hot sauce or tomato juice. For our version we've chosen to use Clamato juice because of the distinct briny flavor it brings. This combination of beer and clamato juice may seem odd at first, but this distinctly tangy and refreshing drink will hook you from the first sip.

Ingredients

For spice mixture combine 1 tablespoon coarse ground sea salt, .5 tablespoon course ground peppercorns and .5 teaspoon chili powder. Blend together and store in an airtight container for up to a year.

Tools

  • Pint glass
  • Citrus juicer
  • Jigger

How to Mix

  1. Pour spice mixture onto a small plate wide enough for the rim of a pint glass or beer mug to fit.
  2. Wet the edge of your glass with a lime wedge and roll the edge into the spice mixture until evenly coated.
  3. Fill glass with ice and pour in clamato juice, and the juice of both your lemon and lime.
  4. Fill the remainder of the glass full with beer
  5. Add hot sauce and additional lemon juice to taste.
  6. Garnish with a lemon wedge and serve.
