Ingredients
- 2 oz scotch
- .5 oz rich blood orange syrup
- .5 oz strained lime juice
- .5 oz strained blood orange juice
- Pinch of salt
- Club soda
For the syrup: slice one blood orange crosswise into 1/4 inch rounds. In a saucepan, combine with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, 15 peppercorns and 15 allspice berries. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool, and strain into a jar -- store in the fridge until ready for use.
How to Mix
- Combine all but the soda in a cocktail shaker with ice
- Shake and pour over ice
- Top with club soda
- Garnish with a blood orange slice (mine are dehydrated!) and (for a touch of sweetness, totally optional) a cardamom sugar rim
