When life gives you lemons, it's cocktail time. We have five quick and simple recipes to help you whip up easy-sipping refreshers with whatever alcohol you have on hand. (Wrap around porch and rocking chair not included.)
As cocktail folks, we know it's all about the base. To get you started here's our recipe for the perfect homemade lemonade:
Yields 6-8 servings
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 whole lemon
2 cups fresh lemon juice
1 gallon cold water
In a small sauce pan over low heat, combine the 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water to make a simple syrup. As it cooks zest some of the lemon rind from the whole lemon into the sauce pan. After 3-5 minutes (once sugar is completely dissolved) remove from the heat and let cool.
In a pitcher, combine the simple syrup, fresh, lemon juice, and gallon of cold water over ice. Slice the whole lemon in thin rounds and add to the pitcher.
Now you're ready to mix things up…
